Master of Landscape Architecture @ Cal Poly Pomona (2011-12)

The Cornfield Arroyo Seco is Located in Downtown Los Angeles, at the edge of Chinatown.

Bordering many older Los Angeles communities it is a transitory hub used by local businesses along the fringes of the city proper.

The Master Plan was a collaborative effort. Upon completion of our research, IPA report, and Master Plan each group member focused on an issue within the project to develop. Transportation alternatives, infrastructure, additional green spaces,  and opportunities to remediate urban runoff were some of the issues addressed. The creation of opportunities and inter-neighborhood connections were important to consider, and were addressed through the addition of bike infrastructure and extensions to the proposed Downtown trolley line.

The team was composed of: Katya Khankhalaeva, Laura Razo and Myself.

EPA Campus Rainworks Competition Future AgScapes 2012

This is the entry produced for the 2012 EPA Campus Rainworks Competition. This project was a collaborative effort between myself and Yoo-Jung Yang. The proposed plan's main objective is to enhance the campus master plan in order to create maximum stormwater retention and filtration along the campus perimeter. The plan seeks to provide detailed guidelines, and create opportunities to enhance the existing and proposed locations for bioswales and detention basins within the agricultural areas.

The Shima River Watershed is Located in China, along it's south-eastern edge bordering the Pacific Ocean.

The Master Plan was a collaborative effort. The Shima (Stone Horse) River is a highly polluted waterway in Dongguan City in the Pearl River Delta region in coastal southern China. Much of the pollution is a result of development, industrialization, over population and centuries of agriculture. The watershed of the Shima lies in close proximity to major global cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Upon completion of our research, IPA report, and Master Plan each group member focused on an issue within the project to develop. My focus was on preservation, through a community based educational approach.
